drumSTRONG '08May 3rd & 4th, 2008Here’s the deal ::We (a lot of us) are going to do two things at once :: We are going to break the planet’s record for the longest continuous rhythm We will throw ourselves at eradicating cancer, glean useful info about the resoureces available and have a blast doing it! OK, so that's three things at once... In the words of Mason, "cancer just plain sucks" and needs to be made history. Wiped out. Scratched off the “worry if I have it or if I’ll get it” list. Sadly enough, at some point in your life, the chances are great that you will be directly affected by the disease. The exhibitors on site are sources of care and treatments for various concerns; directly and indirectly associated with cancer and its treatments. DrumsForCures does not endorse or promote any particular treatment or facility; we simply want you to know of the available resources. How drumSTRONG™ worksFirst, register. You're doing a great thing. Next step: talk to EVERYBODY you know (aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors, teachers, bosses, employees) about supporting you in your efforts by sponsoring your hourly drumming (example: $20 per hour X 5 hours X 10 folks = $1000 for our cause!) and get YOUR SPONSORS to register and talk to even more people. You want to drum for the love of it and to be a part of this greatness. What you get :: blisters (likely), sore arms & hands (definitely!), and ultimately a healthy, elevated spirit. You may even win a prize for playing the longest, raising the most funds or bringing the most participants. We have some beautiful percussion instruments donated as prizes. The annual "trophy"; a handmade djembe by Adam Schaeffer will be kept and played by the most dedicated participant for the year. Arthur Hull http://www.drumcircle.com, the great drum circle facilitator and others will be present to play with us and direct our rhythmical interchange. On site, in-motion hand drum instruction will be available throughout the weekend. The event will be professionally filmed, recorded and web-cast. Local and naional organizations will feature stories and newscasters from TV and radio stations will be on site reporting. So far, Drum Circles in Seattle, Chicago, Florida, Atlanta and London will be drumming with us to rasie funds and awareness to BEAT cancer!
